A teenager was killed and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Route 28 in Falmouth on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office reported that Massachusetts State Police responded to the crash near mile marker 55.6 around 4 p.m. First responders found a heavily damaged vehicle off the roadway, down an embankment.
One teenage occupant who was discovered trapped under the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other individuals were located outside the car with injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. One was airlifted to a trauma center, while the other was transported to a Boston-area hospital. Their identities have not been released.
The crash caused a temporary closure of Route 28 north as authorities investigated the scene. The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section is assisting in determining the cause of the accident.
“This is a tragic incident, and our hearts go out to the families affected,” said a spokesperson for the District Attorney’s Office.
No additional details were immediately available as the investigation remains ongoing.
