A man was arrested Saturday after his mother was found dead in their shared home on Roy Street near 11 Mile Road, police said.
Officers responded to the multi-family residence just after noon on April 5 following reports of an altercation. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a woman who had died from what authorities described as “unnatural causes.” Neighbors identified the suspect as her adult son, Armando Streeter, who also lived in the home.
“We tried to get him out of that condo because we knew he was trouble,” a neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, told Local 4 News. The neighbor added that Streeter had a history of conflicts with his mother and others in the area.
Police have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the homicide but confirmed that Streeter was taken into custody at the scene. He is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail as investigators work to piece together what happened.
The case has been referred to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for review, and formal charges are expected in the coming days.
This tragedy has left neighbors shaken. “It’s sad,” one neighbor said. “You never think something like this could happen so close to home.”
Authorities have not yet disclosed the victim’s name or provided additional information about her relationship with her son beyond confirming they lived together. The investigation remains ongoing.
