Kevin Cobbs, the principal of Southwest Covenant School in Yukon, Oklahoma, was arrested on March 25, 2025, following allegations of possessing child sexual abuse material. Canadian County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Cobbs, 55 – who doubles as the boys’ head basketball coach – after an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI). Authorities executed a search warrant at his residence and reportedly uncovered evidence supporting the charges.
Cobbs initially admitted viewing adult explicit material but denied any knowledge of child sexual abuse material. Authorities found an explicit photo of a minor who Cobbs helped authorities to identify.
The investigation began after OSBI received a tip regarding Cobbs’ alleged possession of explicit material involving minors. The agency has not disclosed further details about the source of the tip or the extent of the material found. Following his arrest, Cobbs was booked into the Canadian County Jail on charges related to child pornography. He was released on $25,000 bail.
Authorities found more photos on Cobbs’ iPhone hiding in ‘secret’ folders following his arrest. “Forensic examination has also found video evidence taken by Kevin that included underage children in their underwear,” said a news release from the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.
As the investigation continues, Cobbs faces additional charges, including lewd acts with a child, attempting to delete evidence, and more.
Southwest Covenant School released a statement on the incident. “I am writing to inform you that high school principal Kevin Cobbs was arrested earlier today for charges related to child pornography,” the school said in the statement addressed to parents. “We continue to gather additional information. Mr. Cobbs has been suspended, and all physical and electronic access to the school has been revoked,”
Southwest Covenant is a private Christian school serving students from preschool through high school and emphasizes faith-based education.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and have urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.
