Three people found dead in a Scottsdale home on Wednesday in an apparent murder-suicide were identified Friday by authorities.
The incident occurred near Indian Bend Road and Vía De La Sendero. Officers responded around 3 p.m. to a welfare check initiated by a concerned coworker of one of the victims and discovered three bodies with gunshot wounds.
Authorities identified the deceased Friday as 51-year-old Tod Lonergan, 46-year-old Lisa Lonergan, and 15-year-old Sophia Lonergan.
Scottsdale Police initially visited the property around 10 a.m. after the coworker reported the victim’s absence and inability to contact them. Upon arrival, officers attempted to contact the occupants but were unsuccessful.
“A concerned coworker of one of the victims called Scottsdale Police to report their fellow employee’s absence and that they were unable to contact them,” Scottsdale Police said in a statement. “Responding officers attempted numerous ways to contact occupants of the residence but were unable to establish contact,”
Officers then entered the backyard, where they spotted two deceased individuals through the home’s windows. A third person was found dead in a separate room after entering the property.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner will provide the official cause of death for the victims but investigators continue to consider the case a murder-suicide.
