
A road rage altercation escalated into a shooting on Sunday, March 30, leaving three individuals wounded and the suspect in police custody. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. along Marcos Highway in Barangay San Jose, according to the Antipolo Police.
The suspect, identified as Kenneth Alajar Bautista, 28, engaged in a heated argument with a group of individuals before drawing a firearm and firing multiple shots. The victims were identified only by aliases and included “Peter,” 52, who sustained a head wound; “Patrick,” 22, shot in the right arm; and “Davis,” 29, struck in the chest while attempting to intervene. All three were rushed to Cabading Hospital for emergency treatment.
Kenneth attempted to flee the scene in his black Toyota Fortuner but was apprehended during a hot pursuit operation at a checkpoint in Masinag, Barangay Mayamot. Authorities confirmed that the suspect did not possess a Certificate of Authority to carry a firearm, violating the nationwide election gun ban.
Videos circulating on social media captured the altercation, showing Kenneth engaged in a fistfight with a motorcycle rider before firing shots. The footage also revealed him carrying an injured woman into his vehicle.
Antipolo Mayor Jun Ynares called for calm following the incident, which occurred outside a café near a resort and hotel. The café’s owner confirmed that neither they nor their team were harmed during the altercation.
Police are investigating the root cause of the confrontation, which is believed to be related to road use or a minor collision. Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo, Antipolo Police chief, urged witnesses to come forward to aid the investigation.
The suspect remains in custody as authorities prepare charges against him.
