A ‘racist’ dance instructor has come under fire after hugging only the white children in her dance group and ‘failing to hug a biracial child. Nadia Boucher of the Plainville, CT studio ‘Dance Xxpressions’ was called out by the mother of the poor child, who said her daughter, Shania, was devastated by the act.
Melissa Breglia, Shaniah’s mother, shared a video of the incident on social media. It shows Boucher walking up to the stage following the performance of her dance group. The instructor reaches in for a hug but excludes Shania, who was the furthest child in line away from her. Shania is seen reaching in for the hug but Boucher – either obliviously or deliberately – does not react and moves away from the children, having finished her hug. The dance instructor shows no reaction to the fact she excluded one child from the hug.
Breglia calls out the teacher for her actions. “It absolutely breaks my heart to watch this… Shaniah came off stage devastated! Why would a “teacher” treat a child so poorly! My daughter deserves an apology and I will continue to share this until THEY FEEL AS BADLY AS SHANIAH DID!!”
Breglia, who has two daughters with the studio, attempted to get the matter resolved amicably with an apology. She claims the studio doubled down, leading her to reveal the footage. Following her release of the video, Dance Xpressions expelled her daughters from the organization.
Boucher’s identity was revealed after the video went viral, and the studio started getting review-bombed. An under-fire Boucher deleted her social media handles. Breglia shared a follow-up post revealing that despite many other parents having biracial children in Dance Xpressions, none showed them any support.

“It is important to understand that my girls are the ones who lost their entire world… at 6 and 9, they are grieving right now. They are not okay!,” Breglia said in the follow-up. “Their world has been shattered because of this. They grew up around a group of parents and kids who turned their backs on them and that saddens me in ways words really can’t explain. They just keep crying… they lost their passion, their friends, and people they thought loved them as family,”
