A 55-year-old motorcyclist from Astoria was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Woodhaven Boulevard near 60th Drive, according to police.
The collision occurred around 9:20 a.m. when William ‘Billz’ McField, riding a 2023 KTM motorcycle, was struck by a 2024 BMW iX as both vehicles exited the Long Island Expressway and turned onto southbound Woodhaven Boulevard. The impact caused McField’s motorcycle to be run over by the BMW, igniting a fire that engulfed both vehicles, police said.
The BMW, driven by 42-year-old Jordan Rosen, then collided with a 2023 Mazda CX-5 operated by a 41-year-old woman. Both drivers remained at the scene and were uninjured. Officers from the NYPD’s 112th Precinct responded and pulled McField from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is conducting an investigation into the crash.
Rosen, a sales manager with the Titan Motor Group dealership in Queens, was fired from his job after his involvement in the accident. Nissan of Queens announced the termination of Jordan Rosen’s employment in a statement released Wednesday, April 9. The firing came after pressure was mounted on the dealership following the incident, with angry reviews targeted at the business on Yelp and other platforms. Rosen was arrested and faces charges of murder, according to the latest reports. A GoFundMe has been established to pursue ‘justice’ for McField.
This fatal incident marks another tragedy for Queens, where traffic fatalities have risen by over 40% this year compared to last year, according to NYPD data. It also occurred just five blocks from a separate fatal collision last month involving an e-bike rider.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline.
