Authorities in San Antonio are investigating a tragic incident involving the deaths of a father and his 1-year-old son in what appears to be a murder-suicide. The bodies were discovered inside a vehicle parked at Phil Hardberger Park on Wednesday evening.
San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) officers responded to the scene around 8 p.m. after receiving a call from a family member. The family member had been contacted earlier by the father, who informed him of his location and asked him to arrive quickly, threatening to harm the child if they delayed.
Upon arrival, the family member found both individuals unresponsive inside the vehicle and alerted authorities. It wasn’t immediately clear how much time elapsed between the initial call and the time the family member took to arrive at the park.
The father, believed to be 34 years old, was found with an apparent stab wound to his torso. The baby boy was unresponsive when officers arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death for the child has yet to be determined, but foul play is suspected, according to Officer Ricardo Guzman of SAPD. Authorities added that may change as the investigation progresses.
