Authorities identified three suspects in the triple homicide and began a foot pursuit in Rome. Two suspects were apprehended without incident, but a third shot himself before he could be arrested after being surrounded by officers, said Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood.
The injured suspect was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he later died.
The Drew Police Department, the Ruleville Police Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and the K-9 unit from the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman are assisting the Sunflower County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities have yet to release further details on the shooting.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
