Ryan Scott Schroeder, 36, a physical education teacher and coach at Mishicot High School, was arrested Wednesday and is being held at the Manitowoc County Jail on multiple charges related to alleged sexual assaults involving students, officials said Thursday.
Schroeder faces charges including second-degree sexual assault of a child, repeated sexual assault of the same child, sexual assault of a child by school staff, possession of child pornography, and child enticement. The allegations span from 2023 to 2025, according to Manitowoc District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre.
At a bail hearing Thursday, Schroeder was ordered held on a $150,000 cash bond. He is prohibited from having contact with anyone under 18, anyone associated with Mishicot High School, and the victims. LaBre said Schroeder had hidden files of child pornography on a device and that some of the alleged assaults occurred on school grounds. “He was also brazen enough to conduct some of these … encounters inside of a school setting,” LaBre said.
Circuit Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa described the case as “very disturbing,” noting the alleged offenses occurred over several years.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, working with the Mishicot School District and local police, is continuing its investigation and is seeking additional victims or witnesses. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (920) 683-4466, Detective Nate Steber at (920) 683-6170, or submit anonymous tips via the P3 App.
Schroeder is scheduled for an initial court appearance Monday, April 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Manitowoc County Courthouse. Further details have not been released to protect the privacy of potential victims.
