Auburn police officer Dominick Boschetto was arrested Monday following a law enforcement sting operation in Berkshire County, authorities said. Boschetto, 31, of Brookfield, faces charges of sexual conduct for a fee and enticing a child under 16 for sex after allegedly attempting to solicit sex from an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl, according to court records and statements from law enforcement.
The arrest was carried out by Massachusetts State Police detectives, who obtained a warrant after Boschetto communicated with an undercover North Adams officer responding to online advertisements linked to commercial sex. Despite being told the individual was 15, Boschetto continued the conversation, arranged a meeting, and expressed interest in explicit photographs, court documents show.
Auburn Police Chief Todd Lemon said Boschetto, who joined the department in March 2023, was taken into custody at the police station after the department was notified of the warrant. “The allegations against Boschetto are reprehensible and deeply offensive to every member of the Auburn Police Department,” Lemon said in a statement. “We work hard every day to maintain the public’s trust and while this matter is extremely concerning, it is not a reflection of the hard working men and women of the Auburn Police Department as a whole”.
Officials emphasized that the allegations are unrelated to Boschetto’s on-duty conduct. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of both criminal and internal investigations.
The Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office described the arrest as part of a larger law enforcement operation and said additional details would be released Tuesday25. No arraignment date has been announced.
