A woman was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 242 and Mossy Oaks in New Caney, authorities said. Jaelynn Stewart, 25, died after her Chevrolet Malibu collided with a pickup truck. Stewart graduated from Lane College and Southwestern University and worked as a chiropractic intern at the Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics in Dallas and Irving.
The crash occurred around 8:20 p.m. after Stewart left her home in the Northcrest Subdivision and entered the intersection in a recently purchased Chevrolet Malibu, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. She failed to yield to an eastbound pickup truck, which struck her vehicle on the driver’s side.
Emergency crews from East Montgomery County Fire Department and Montgomery County Hospital District responded to the scene. Firefighters extricated Stewart from the car, and medics attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
DPS troopers are investigating the crash. No charges are expected, and there were no indications of impairment, officials said.
Her body was transported by Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office assisted at the scene.
